Two key areas that were updated which affect WTLL, resulting in our Board being optimistic that games can eventually be played this Spring.
First, the big one – Youth Baseball has been categorized within the Substantial Tier, along with softball, girl’s lacrosse and other less-contact outdoor sports. These sports are allowed to play competitive games when in the Red Tier or safer. We are currently in the Purple Tier, with Stay at Home in place due to Hospital Capacity.
The second update is that no competitive games will be allowed until January 25, 2021 at the earliest. The return-to-competition date will be reassessed by January 4, 2021.
With the January 25th date in mind, as a Board, we have decided to extend Spring 2021 Registration until February 12th, 2021. This is also an extension for when Registration Fees need to be paid. Assessments for our competitive divisions (Farm, Minor & Major) will now take place on the weekend of February 20th/21st; and games will hopefully begin on Saturday, March 27th. The season will then conclude in mid-June, ensuring a full slate of games can be scheduled in all divisions.
Even though the State has updated what tier Baseball games can be played, and we are optimistic for the future of our Spring season – we understand we are still in a difficult situation with regards to COVID. Please make sure to follow current safety protocols while enjoying the holiday season. We look forward to seeing everyone back on the fields in the New Year, just a little later than originally planned.
