COVID-19 Update

Hello West Torrance Little League Family

With our initial "pause until date" upon us and no indication to when guidelines might be adjusted in our area, I and your WTLL Board of Directors have decided to extend the "pause until date" to April 19th.

This was not a decision we took lightly. Your WTLL Board of Directors have been in daily communication and have labored over every decision we have been faced with during these challenging times. Quandaries such as what to do with utilities during this down time, how to keep dogs off of our newly upgraded fields and how to protect supply/food investments have been agonized over as we remain optimistic that we will come together at some point this Spring.

You may also notice that we did not align our "pause until date" with the newly posted TUSD date. This decision was made with three considerations in mind:

Youth baseball does not have the same social distancing "speed bumps" as class room study does and therefore, does not require a complete alignment at this time. We will definitely keep an eye on their activity and still view it as a key consideration in each decision we make.
There was no reason to take that large of a leap at this point. While we are certain the TUSD had excellent reasons to extend into May, we did not observe a compelling reason to do so. Your Board of Directors are committed to working together daily to ensure we are back together sooner than later while maintaining the safest playing environment. Important to call out: we are not saying that we will not be aligned to TUSD's schedule. We are simply stating we are taking an interval step here.
We are also exploring other options including a compacted game schedule, extending the game schedule back into May/June and others which would make a smaller extension more beneficial in the case that something happens sooner than later and we are able to come together before 5/2.
Given all of this and in an effort to manage everyone's expectations, there is still the possibility that the season could get cancelled at some point. We are simply not there yet and want to give this season every opportunity to survive. You all worked so hard to get our best season yet off the ground and we owe it to you to exhaust every possibility on a daily basis.

Thank you for your patience. The emails and calls I have received have been very positive. We truly have the best families in youth baseball and we are very fortunate to be embarking on this journey with each one of you.

God bless- stay well.
