With the success of our Fall Softball Clinics, we are proud to welcome softball back to Entradero Park in 2023.
As
we bring Softball back to WTLL, we are doing so in a measured approach
that is consistent with other area Little Leagues that have done the
same in recent years.
For the 2023 season, WTLL is offering at least a 10 game Softball season for Minis (U7) ONLY.
Throughout
the registration period, the Board of Directors has specific dates to
determine if enough interest warrants continuing either division for
Spring 2023 - so, please register early & promote WTLL Softball
within the community. The more interest we receive during registration,
the more successful the overall program will grow to become. If there is
not enough community interest shown with full registrations for either
division, the Board may cancel the division & registered players
will receive a refund (minus service fees).
West Torrance Little League Softball Spring Season activities run late January through June 2023 (exact dates TBD),
with games taking place at West Torrance Little League fields at
Entradero Park in West Torrance, as well as, potential games versus
other area Little League softball teams at their respective fields. Practices will take place at the WTLL fields at Entradero Park, or surrounding school fields.
Girls & Boys, Ages 5-7 are welcome, regardless of skill level. Child must live within City of Torrance, or general surrounding area (No
Redondo Beach residents can register. WTLL & RBLL are planning to
partner for a larger Youth Softball spring season. If you live within
Redondo Beach, please register with RBLL at
https://www.redondolittleleague.com/ ).
A player may only be registered for either WTLL Softball OR WTLL Baseball Spring 2023 season. Should a player be registered for both, we will ask families to pick either sport before registration is deemed final.
Registration fees include Team Jersey & Hat, one weekly field practice
Practices
will begin in late January/early February (individual coach’s
decision), with Opening Day & games planned for late February
(weather permitting). The seasons for most players & teams will conclude in early June, with Closing Day & Championship Games traditionally held the weekend after Memorial Day.
Within
all divisions of play in baseball & softball, the WTLL Board of
Directors, managers & volunteers are focused on development of every
player, regardless of experience or skill. We are an instructional
league first and foremost.

REGISTRATION DATES
------------------------------
MINIS (5-7 year olds - League Age)
Standard Registration period for Minis (U7) closes on January 15th, 2023.
Following
our Minors & Minis respective registration periods - our 2023
Spring Wait List will open up for Softball registrations. Wait Listed
Players will be called to join a team in order of registration date -
ONLY if there is a need on a team in their respective age division.
MINORS (8-10 year olds - League Age) - UPDATE: Unfortunately, due to lack of community interest, we decided to cancel the Minors Division for the upcoming 2023 Spring season. We made this decision in order to provide families the opportunity to register elsewhere with other leagues' discounted early registration fees.
Our MINIS registration looks promising, so this is the first of what should be many seasons we offer Softball; and pending interest in the community, we hope WTLL Softball continues to grow to all age levels in the near future.
For 2023 Spring, our Softball divisions will only be Minis (U7)
Minis
(U7) division is for players Little League Softball age 5-7 years old.
(5 year olds must have played at least one year of WTLL TBall)
Minis (U7)
Minis
Softball is for girls 5-7 years old who are moving toward to hitting a
pitched ball, as well as still learning the fundamentals of hitting and
fielding. In Minis, players spend a portion of their season hitting a
ball off a batting tee as well as learning to hit pitched balls from
coaches. Rules of the game are designed to accommodate the need for
teaching. As a Non-Competitive Division, the primary goals are to
instruct children in the fundamentals of softball, to allow them to
experience the value of teamwork and give them the opportunity to play
softball with their friends.

SNACK BAR REQUIREMENTS
---------------------------------------------
For
every registered player, families are required to work two (2) SNACK
BAR SHIFTS throughout the entire Spring season, including end of year
divisional tournaments. We are always looking for great
volunteers, and as a bonus for volunteering in key roles - WTLL Board
Members & approved Team Managers are exempt from this requirement,
due to how much time they already volunteer to to the league. Families
may choose to buyout their two shifts (per player registered) for $200
total; otherwise, families are required to provide one (1) check (per
player registered) in the amount of $250, as a deposit to their two (2)
shifts. After the season, these checks will be destroyed, once it is
confirmed families worked BOTH of their required shifts per player registered. If families only work one shift, then the deposit will be cashed by WTLL.
At
WTLL, we encourage players of all skill levels & backgrounds to
play ball. We are entirely a volunteer organization, but do require
player registration fees to help maintain fields, uniform &
equipment expenses, and miscellaneous league expenditures (utility
bills). Should your family need financial assistance with player
registration fees, please do not hesitate to reach out to
[email protected] to explain your situation & we can likely help find a solution.
