COVID-19 Plan/Protocol

WTLL Parents,

As most of you are aware the situation with COVID-19 continues to evolve.  As we learn more about both it’s nature and the recommended responses, WTLL will continue to monitor the situation closely and work with local city officials, other Little League Organizations in the South Bay and the Torrance Unified School District to ensure we implement measured and appropriate responses.

As of today, WTLL plans to continue all scheduled activities (rain permitting) as long as Torrance Unified School District Classes are in session.  In the event that Torrance chooses to suspend classes, WTLL will respond accordingly and will evaluate an appropriate time to resume activities based on the body of evidence available.  In the meantime, we will need to implement some changes in WTLL as recommended by our governing body, the CDC and other health/safety experts to minimize exposure risk to our children and families.

Effective immediately, the following new policies have been put in place:

1. If you, your child, or anyone in your family is ill, please choose not to participate in any West Torrance Little League Activities until symptoms have subsided.  If you have been exposed to anyone that has had foreign travel, please consider quarantining yourself from the league for 14 days.  Managers and coaches will be asked to monitor this situation closely and will kindly ask any children to refrain from activities at their discretion.

2. Please reinforce with your children the importance of proper hand washing techniques and not to touch eyes, mouths and noses.   Our coaches and officials will make this part of their

3. WTLL will work with coaches and players to limit hand-to-hand or skin-to-skin contact.  As such, we will discontinue the use of post-game handshakes for the remainder of the season.  Instead, I’d like to ask that all teams going forward stand at 1st and 3rd base respectively and tip their hats to each other to continue to display the outstanding sportsmanship we have here in the WTLL community.
4. We will do our best to make sure all restrooms are sanitized and kept as clean as possible.

a. Additional cleaning services are being evaluated for more frequent cleaning of the restrooms at the Major/Rookie fields
b. Porta potty services are being evaluated for increased servicing
c. Hand sanitizer is being provided for your convenience at each

5. Snack Bar service options and hygiene policies are being modified as follows:

a. The Snack Bar will discontinue offering all prepared foods.  Menu items will be limited to pre-packaged items only
b. Staff and volunteers will receive additional guidance on hand washing and general hygiene standards
c. Hand sanitizer will be provided for your convenience at each of our open snack bar locations when in use

This is an unprecedented time, and will WTLL continue to evaluate its options as the situation develops.  Our primary goal is the safety of your sons and daughters; so regardless of our plan, I encourage each and every family to make participation decisions that best suit your family.

Best Regards,
Glen McBrayer
WTLL Safety Director
